Castle and Collegiate Church St. Michael

The castle and collegiate church St. Michael is Pforzheim's most important medieval monument and is therefore also called the "history book" of the city. It was built between 1225 and 1470 in Romanesque and late Gothic styles and is the tomb of the princely house of Baden. After severe war damage, the church was historically faithfully restored and presents itself as a jewel of sacred art. The coloured stained glass windows that characterise the interior are spectacular works of post-war modern art.
